Allegany County Trash Talk
The Allegany County
Landfill closed in June of 2016. As you likely know, in response the
Village Board of Trustees has approved contracting with LaForge Disposal
Services as of June 6th, 2016. The Village continues to administrate and
bill for collection services on the utility bill you receive each
month.
In the Village of Wellsville our local laws
require mandatory recycling. LaForge Disposal Services
provide a stream-line recycling making it easy for our customers by
allowing them to co-mingle recycling every week. It will be beneficial
if you have a recycling container that can be used weekly. Please break
down and bundle your cardboard and continue to keep it dry to assist
with recycling efforts.
We know many residents have been interested in a brush pickup service so
another change is that village crews will begin a new service this fall
picking up brush. The Village will pick up brush annually and will
announce the exact week of brush pickup service during the selected
season as it approaches.
Please also note that Village crews will no
longer pick up bulky trash after July 29th, 2016. Beginning in August
you may call any vendor you choose to pick up your Bulk Garbage as the
Village won’t have the crew in place to do so. The Village of Wellsville
does not do any commercial pick up as of 2005.
The service fee for 2020-2021 will be $16.00 monthly.
